I just think the significance of what Bolt has done in the last couple of years will be talked about for a long long time. His Olympic 100 and 200 races were historic moments in time where you will remember exactly where you were when they were run. Jaw dropping stuff. The other reason I put Bolt at 1 is the fact that 99% of people who are born have the chance to run at some stage of their life. From the rich to the poverty stricken every able bodied person has the chance to run. Its a massive pool of people to draw on. I would of loved to have seen what would have happened had Schuey gone to a struggling outfit and still win world championships as Rossi did when he went to Yamaha.
